According to the 2021 Elders Count, Nevada’s growth rate for the 85 and above age group is double the nationwide average. As the state’s population of elderly individuals increases each year, there are several benefits for senior citizens who live or choose to retire here.

Aside from those offered by Social Security or Medicare, Nevada’s senior benefits include community service and both non-medical and medical assistance.

Community Options Program for the Elderly (COPE)

COPE’s purpose is to give seniors in Nevada who would otherwise need nursing home care the services and the support they may need to continue living at home. It is specifically meant for low-income citizens who do not qualify for Medicaid. Benefits of COPE encompass adult daycare, personal care, and more.

Homemaker Program

Like COPE, Nevada’s Homemaker Program allows residents to continue living at home through different kinds of non-medical assistance. With the help of Family Support Workers, seniors can get assistance for running errands or completing their household chores.

Nevada Senior Rx

Nevada Senior Rx helps senior citizens pay for their prescription medications. If used in tandem with Medicare, you can see even greater savings. It takes care of paying off Medicare’s Drug Plan premiums as well.

These benefits and programs can ease some of the burdens that you may experience as you age. Seniors can also explore options for the cheapest car insurance tailored to their needs, ensuring financial relief and peace of mind on the road.
