Ready to embark on your first official trip as a senior citizen? You have a whole lot of options for senior travel to choose from, but as a first-timer, going on a cruise is a great mode of transport. You will get to set foot in various destinations and spend some quality time aboard a ship with other travelers like you.

Many cruise lines actually extend discounts to senior citizens, making this luxurious adventure more affordable and accessible to you.

  • Carnival Cruise Line has special discounts for individuals aged 55+, for room types, dates, destinations, or departure ports.
  • Royal Caribbean offers discounts for individuals aged 55+ for some destinations, but you will have to inquire directly as these are not publicly advertised.
  • Azamara Club Cruises offers up to 15% off on their rates for senior citizens.
  • Celebrity Cruises has discounts on some of their trips for individuals aged 55+.
  • MSC Cruises is a great budget cruise, with discounts for senior citizens on some trips. You may call directly to see what is currently available.
  • Norwegian Cruise Line gives seniors $100 off on some cruises, as well as 5% off if you book nine months ahead.
  • Costa Cruises and their smaller ships are great for senior citizens, and they offer discounts when you call them directly.

In addition to these lines offering discounts, if you are a member of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), you can book your desired cruises through the Expedia AARP Travel Center. You will be able to earn a hefty amount of credit that you can use onboard during your trip.

Members of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) can also avail of senior discounts offered by the organization for certain cruises.
