Marriott Hotels are some of the most popular hotels worldwide, with more than 5,000 hotels and resorts in various countries. For seniors who love to travel, staying at a Marriott Hotel can be a dream come true.

They have Senior discounts available to help you save money for other travel expenses. Here’s everything you need to know about the senior discount at Marriott.

What Is Marriott's Senior Discount?

Seniors can book a night at a Marriott using special discounted rates. These rates vary by location, room availability, and season, but they can be as high as 15% off the usual price of a standard room. AARP and CARP members can also enjoy additional discounts and special rates.

The discount is only valid for two rooms per night booked under the senior person's name. You must present a valid ID with proof of age while booking or upon check-in to receive the senior discount.

You can get the discount by booking online or over the phone. If you’re reserving online, look for the “special rate” menu, where you can indicate you get the “senior discount rates.” This will show you a list of available rooms with discounted prices.

What Are The Age Requirements For The Marriott Senior Discount?

Marriott Senior Discount Age Requirements

To qualify for the Marriott senior citizen discount, guests must be 62 or older. Proof of age is required at check-in, so please bring a valid ID such as a driver's license or passport.

The discounted rate is available all year, but specific blackout dates may apply depending on the hotel location. To be sure, call the hotel in advance to inquire.

As a general rule of thumb, don’t expect to get discounted hotel rooms during peak seasons. There are many travelers during this time, and hotels might be fully booked with no spare rooms to offer at a discount to guests. Always confirm the room’s availability before showing up at the hotel to ensure you get your spot.

Other Ways To Save Money At Marriott

Aside from the senior discount, there are other ways to save money when booking a night at Marriott. Check out these options.

1. Marriott Teacher Discount

Teachers and ex-educators can enjoy discounted rates of up to 40% off on room bookings at Marriott. A teacher’s package accommodates four people and provides one vehicle per room for complimentary self-parking.

Simply present valid proof of teaching background upon arrival or check-in to get the discount. However, this discount can’t be combined with other promotions and deals.

2. Marriott Military Discount

Marriott honors veterans and active military personnel with a 15% discount on standard rooms year-round. This discount is extended to their immediate dependents. Make sure to carry any valid military ID upon check-in to get the discount.

3. Marriott Bonvoy Rewards

Customers can enjoy other perks and benefits when they join Bonvoy, Marriott’s reward, and loyalty programs. In exchange for signing up for a free membership, guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi, discounted member rates, and mobile check-in.

You’re also rewarded with more benefits as you spend more nights at the hotel. After all, it’s a loyalty program. Other benefits you can unlock include late checkouts, up to 75% points bonuses, guaranteed room types, exclusive lounge access, and more.

4. Best Rate Guarantee

Marriott strives to give its guests the best rates possible. With their Best Rate Guarantee Program, guests can get up to 25% discount or 5000 Bonvoy Points if they book a room through Marriott’s website and find a better deal on a non-Marriott site like booking.com.

This is the hotel’s guarantee that any reservations made through their site are the best deal available. If you find a better deal elsewhere, simply submit a claim, and if it’s approved, you get the discount or Boney Points.

Other Hotel Discounts For Seniors

Marriott is one of many hotels that offer senior discounts. If you’re an AARP member, you can find dozens of hotels that provide 10% and more discounts on their best available rates. Other Marriott alternatives with senior discounts include:

  • AmericInn by Wyndham: Get 10% off for seniors 60+
