What States Offer Senior Discounts for Camping?

Waiting for the perfect trip to finally get you out of the house? Although you may not be ready to get on a plane just yet, there are several opportunities for making your own adventure within the United States. State parks are beautiful and each of them is one-of-a-kind, and you may appreciate driving up an RV and camping out for a few days. 

Exploring the great outdoors will surely rejuvenate you and help you feel recharged. You are actually spoiled by choice when it comes to choosing a park to camp out in, and many states actually have discounts for seniors.

  • Alabama offers 15% off on camping fees for seniors who show proof of age
  • Florida offers 50% off for active duty and honorably discharged veterans, and disabled Floridian veterans (together with their families) may receive free annual park passes
  • Illinois has $0-17.50 rates for camping (compared to $8-35/night) for senior citizens and disabled visitors
  • Ohio offers discounts for cardholders of the Golden Buckeye, which you can claim if you are an Ohioan aged 60+, or an individual with a disability
  • Kansas has a $13.75 rate for camping (compared to $25) 
  • Oklahoma offers discounts for overnight stays for seniors who are residents and non-residents, but resident senior citizens will have free entry and day-use passes
  • North Dakota has discounted annual permits for the state’s senior citizens and disabled individuals
  • Delaware has annual passes that cover your vehicles and its riders entry to their state parks throughout the year, with discounts for both senior citizens and military members
  • Indiana offers discounted annual passes meant for senior citizens
  • Louisiana offers discounts for seniors’ day-use entry, upon presentation of a valid driver’s license
  • New Jersey offers State Park Passes for senior citizens and disabled individuals
  • South Carolina offers a Palmetto Pass for senior citizens and disabled residents, which gives them free and unlimited entry for half the price
  • New Mexico offers $100 passes (compared to $180 for residents and $225 for non-residents) for seniors and disabled residents of the state
